This event is sponsored by Golden Gate Railroad Museum and the Pacific Locomotive Association as a fundraiser to support the continued restoration of historic artifacts and rail line.
Grab your friends and family and come out for a ride behind a vintage steam locomotive, Southern Pacific No. 2472, as the train travels through scenic Niles Canyon. It's a perfect way to get away from it all. Plus, what better way to get away from it all than from the comfort of a train?
C L A S S E S O F S E R V I C E
COACH CLASS
A trip in Coach Class on a Golden Gate Railroad Museum excursion is a great way to enjoy your journey. Grab a spot in one of the open-air cars and sit back, relax and feel the wind in your hair as you travel through beautiful Niles Canyon. Coach Class is excellent option for families as well as there is plenty of seats to sit together as an entire family. Child tickets are available for childen 3-12. Children 2 and under are free. For Safety children must not run through the train.
COACH CLASS SERVICE INCLUDES:
Unreserved seating in historic “Harriman” coaches or family-friendly open-air cars
Snacks and beverages available for purchase
Great option for groups with various ages
Handicapped access is limited
FIRST CLASS
Travel in style in First Class on a Golden Gate Railroad Museum excursion. This car, No. 2979, the Neil M. Vodden, has recently been refurbished to its 1940’s appearance and features air conditioning and a circular mahogany beverage bar framed by etched glass and mirrors. EXECUTIVE CLASS

GHOST WHISTLES ALONG THE RIVER
A Historical Photo Charter of an SP excursion on the Yosmite Valley Railroad
Join us as we open a window in time. The oak studded hills along Alameda Creek in Niles Canyon will be our backdrop for this fantasy excursion along the Merced River on the Yosemite Valley Railroad.
Former Southern Pacific No. 2472 (closest thing to a Yosemite Valley ten-wheeler around) will provide the sounds, and the view from the rear platform of the restored Yosemite Valley observation car No. 330 will provide the sights.
Photo runbys will be staged for still and video photographers. This is a rare opportunity to get up close to big steam.
MOONLIGHT SPECIAL
This special run will be a great time for all as the train winds through Niles Canyon with the full moon illuminating the hillsides. The train will depart Sunol at 7:30 p.m. for a 90-minute journey. Passengers will be treated to complimentary coffee and hot apple cider on board the train.
SUNSET RECEPTION
Kick-off the Moonlight Special with an exclusive reception on board a vintage art-deco club-lounge car starting at 6:30 p.m. The Sunset Reception will feature a selection of fine wines, tempting desserts and light hors d'oeuvers. Following the reception, the train will journey through Niles Canyon. The Sunset Reception is available to those 21 years of age or older. View details about this vintage car here.

ONLINE TICKET SALES ARE CLOSED. Seats will be available at Sunol Station one hour before train time. Note the 1:00 p.m. Coach Class seats on Saturday are SOLD OUT. But First Class and Executive seats are available. Also, Moonlight Special and Sunset Reception tickets are still available.
All other tickets types are available at Sunol station.
Seats still available for all trains except 1 pm coach seats on Saturday. Buy on line until 9 pm Friday night or buy at the Sunol Depot starting one hour before train time.
First Class reserved seats in Air Conditioned lounge car are still available on all trains. Ride in confort and style with refreshments served at your seats.
Saturday 1:00 p.m. Coach Class seats almost sold out at 9:00 p.m. Thursday. Seats are still available for First Class seating in Lounge car at 1:00 p.m. and plenty of seats left at 3:00 p.m. and Moonlight Special and on Sunday trains.
